Did you know you have 24/7 access to incredible resources for you and your class? One of tools busy teachers often forget is the Resource Center webpage. The site is a 'one stop shop' for a variety of very useful tools for your teaching. The Online CatalogHow many times have you been at home and wondered, "Do we have that fantastic new book in our school library?" Well, you can simply click on the online catalog link and search our entire catalog from anywhere. I actually use this every single day when students and I are looking for specific books in the library. I've bookmarked the site and we now have this on our RC iPads to enable 3/4 grade students to search books whenever they have a topic they are interested in exploring further. Starting a new unit? Preparing for a future study? Look up what books you need and send us a list. We are happy to help gather and suggest resources for you! Searching More WidelyIf a book isn't available in our school library, the next thing I do is search for it at the Winnetka Public Library. You can do that from within the RC site by clicking on the link. You as a Winnetka educator are able to check books out of the Winnetka Public Library. All you have to do is show them your library card from your home library and they will give you an educator card. The public library is also happy to help with collecting materials for units of study. We've developed a very good relationship with the children's librarians there and they would love to help in any way they can. While you are on the WPL site, check out their new studio too. With ANY library card, you can stop in and use their phenomenal maker tools. They have everything from a Cricut machine and embroidery sewing machine to a laser cutter and 3D printer. You can sign up for classes or stop in and explore. What a terrific local resource! You can also access the district site, something I am frequently checking for calendars, etc. Just click on the link! District SubscriptionsWe've put links to district subscriptions on our webpage. I can't publish the usernames and passwords, but I did send that information in an email to you this week. Look for future posts about several of these sites. A few are new to the district this year and it has been quite fun to introduce them to the students in the Resource Center as they explore and inquire. Our MissionWhile you are at the site, it is a good time to remind you of our mission and vision in the Resource Center. We are eager and always willing to find ways to collaborate with you and empower your students. Our Vision
